In family law, a person who depends on another for their financial support. In juvenile court, it’s often used to describe minors that have been abused or neglected by parents and must be placed into protective custody until they can be rehabilitated back into society safely
In Family Law we call this type of individual an “inwardly dependent.” They’re supported through income generation (from either parent), social security payments/SSI benefits as well as any workman compensation cases which might come up if you happen upon some sort-of accident while working at home alone like I did last summer!
