Generally, a probate examiner is responsible for reviewing probate documents prior to probate hearings being brought before the judge. If documents are incomplete the probate court will not accept the hearing until they are refiled and the examiner makes this determination in many cases before the petition is brought before the probate judge.

A probate examiner makes sure that the probate court docket is moving along quickly by efficiently by reviewing documents so that frivolous petitions do not come before the court, thus slowing it down.
